Join this master to learn how to find and perform the key initiatives to optimize cloud costs in Azure Public Cloud.

We will focus on specific features and configurations to look for and how to get the most for less using a set of services in Azure.

Apart from reviewing cost optimization initiatives, we will analyze the cost drivers that bring the cost up or down.

You’ll learn to understand how we’re billed for services usage. And from there, control the costs.

You will learn by doing, with weekly exercises and a lot of examples to illustrate what is discussed in the classes.

The examples will cover PowerShell and Terraform code, as well as policies to ensure that optimization initiatives won’t be a one-time exercise

The master will be led by Alfonso San Miguel, a multi-cloud architect and FinOps expert in banking and finance companies, who is also the author of “Efficient Cloud FinOps” book, one of the staple key reads in this domain.

Class Structure

Each class will be a mixture of theorical and practical content. We encourage our master attendees to ask questions and participate in the classes as they occur.

The duration is set to 1:30h per class taking into account questions and practical examples.

P.S: Nothing is written in stone (some classes may take slightly longer and some slightly less)

During each class but the last one, we will propose an exercise that you need to work on during the week. The idea of these exercises is for our master attendees to “digest” each week’s content as the master progresses, to get the most out of the upcoming sessions.

Master Assets

During the master, we will present some assets in the form of:

  • Code examples for each session
  • Assets that our attendees can use as accelerators for the optimization processes we will propose throughout the master

These assets will be available in our GitHub repository, covering examples from different scripting languages such as Terraform, Azure Bicep, AZ CLI and PowerShell.

Our idea is to also use our Slack channel to discuss any master topics and extend the contents with interesting news and ideas.
